Pinks Secure Playoff Spot

Coming into yesterday’s game the squad was lighter than usual with some players engaged in other commitments out of Gibraltar during the Bank Holiday weekend. This tended to be the common trend across all teams in the league this weekend. We were also without January signing, Karl Parody is serving a suspension after being sent off in last week’s win against Laguna.

The Pinks started the better side and were rewarded for their high press within two minutes. Jaylan Desoiza whipping in a cross from the right that was cushioned by Chris Remorino to the head of Dylan Casciaro who nodded in from close range. 5 minutes later Sporting equalized through the right foot of Jayce Consigliero, who proved to be a handful all game.

Jamie Walker was subbed on and was causing Sporting all sorts of problems from his favourite right hand side. He cut inside, beat one and smashed it in off the post. The Pinks were forced back once again with Jayce Consigliero doing exactly the same again. The score 2-2 at half time.

The first few exchanges of the second half saw the Pinks on the back foot until Iain Latin turned up to the party. He increased his goal scoring tally with a hat-trick in the space of 4 second half minutes. His second, arguably contender for goal of the season…a long range effort rifled into the top corner from his own half. Pure power.

Once again, Jayce Consigliero brought Sporting back into it albeit for a moment getting his own hat-trick. Things turned sour towards the end of the game with a clash between Karl Balestrino and Giles Roswell, both being given a straight red card…one we thought quite harsh from the Spanish referees. However, it was Dylan Casciaro who had the first say and the final say in the last minute bagging his brace. Final score 8-3.

MOTM: This weeks award goes to Jaylan Desoiza who set up the first goal in spectacular fashion but also put in a well-rounded performance that deserved its just rewards 🙌🏼
