Match Report

Pinks Perform in Pressure Game.

It was built as the playoff deciding game. The Pinks were dealt a couple of injury blows before the game with James Noguera and Craig Gillingwater sidelined. Also, Walker, Balestrino and Eric Casciaro were still not 100% after injuries suffered in the encounter against South United. Laguna too were missing left-footed talisman George Linares.

Bavaria started off the better and has been the regular occurrence since the turn of the year, we took the lead in the first 4 minutes. Chris Remorino was on hand to tap the ball in from close range – a deserved lead at the start of the game. Jamie Walker was pulling all kinds of strings for the Pinks. His experience was starting to show and in true Walker-fashion cut inside from the right channel and toe-punted the ball past a helpless Julian Fortuna in the Laguna goal.

Iain Latin was also proving a handful to handle. His strength and power unmatched throughout the course of the game. He too was given his reward after dancing last two players in yellow before dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper. Laguna pulled one back from a neat set play but it was Latin again who was to strike and give the Pinks a 4-1 lead going into the break.

The first few moments of the second half saw Laguna throw men forward in an attempt to get back into it and were unlucky to concede an own goal to make it 5-1 against the run of play. Daniel Pitaluga, who has been in a rich vein of form all season got on the scoresheet as he picked up the scraps at the back post. Chris Remorino and Karl Balestrino worked a free kick to perfection to see Remorino get his second of the game.

Laguna pulled a couple back midway through the second half but that this point the Pinks were well in control of the ball and therefore the clock (which was working for the first time since the beginning of the season – someone say “Halelujah”). It wouldn’t be a futsal game without a Dylan Casciaro goal. He bagged two in the last 10 minutes to take his goal tally to 21 for the season. Impressive stuff from our resident ‘fox in the box’.

A Pink masterclass that puts us 4 points ahead of Laguna in the race for the playoff.

MOTM: This week’s award is shared between Jamie Walker who played through the pain to pull the strings and Iain Latin who was an immovable object in the middle of the pitch.

Once again, this all wouldn’t be possible without the support of our Pink Ultras who sung their hearts out from the first whistle to the last! Hats off to you all 🎩👏🏼
