Pinks Tame the Lions

With 5 games left to play in the Gibraltar 4th Division there was no room for complacency in what is looking like a dog fight for the playoff promotion place. Laguna had put the pressure back on the Pinks after coming from 2-0 down and leaving it late to beat Europa 4-3. The pressure was on but the boys did not disappoint.
The game plan was prepared by coaches Montado and Bosio, and executed to perfection within the first 3 minutes of first half kickoff. Bavaria’s high press caused Lions all sorts of problems, not allowing them time to play their way out of the back, Dylan Casciaro did what Dylan Casciaro does best – placing a shot into the bottom corner in under a minute.
Karl Parody, the hero from the Britannia game the week previous was once again providing the goods on the big occasion, making it 2-0 half a minute later. Two soon became, 3, then 4 and 5 – the game looked dead and buried with 6 minutes on the clock. Walker netting on two occasions and Remorino with an instinctive toe punt finish. The half time score 6-1, truly deserved.
The only major threat from Lions came in the opening stages of the second half with captain Frank Warwick making a sublime double save to keep the margin substantial – he was back to his best, producing a number of fine saves. The goals kept coming. Daniel Pitaluga added a couple, as did Iain Latin who takes his tally for the season to 19. Craig Gillingwater put in a ‘Drogba-esque’ performance with his perseverance and hold up play being rewarded with a goal. The Pinks had run riot again but this time a much better all round performance. Full time score 13-3.

MOTM – Chris Remorino picks up the award for a combative and relentless performance. His hard work clear for all to see and his goal well deserved.

We remain a point ahead of Laguna and extend our goal difference to a huge +70 for the season. Next week is do or die as we take on South United in what promises to be a tasty encounter.
A special thanks to our Pink Ultras who creates a brilliant atmosphere that pushed our players to perform the way they did. You’re the best!
